PSA- You don’t need a Greens Powder or “Superfood” Supplement. They don’t replace REAL FRUITS AND VEGGIES- and there is no such thing as a “superfood”.
Food Synergy matters & so does bioavailability (which means if you are absorbing & using the nutrients in the greens -which we can’t prove with a greens product but we CAN prove with real food!)
Will taking one hurt you? Heck no! Some can even have digestive enzyme complexes that help some people with digestion. (Some also have probiotics that may hurt digestion though or artificial sweeteners or gums) High quality powders can have a good dose of compounds that promote natural detoxification, & contain great dosages of micronutrients, antioxidants, adaptogens, & polyphenol compounds. For some people, green powders can help increase energy levels- but I 100% believe this is due to that fact that some people using greens go from lack of micronutrients to then adequate micronutrient status via greens & further change in diet.
Another thing to note is that green and superfood powders lack the FIBER we need from the fruits/veggies- and no this doesn’t mean take the green product and then take a fiber powder (more on that later!).
If you are going to reach for a greens product- you need to first ask yourself “Why?”, Am I getting my fruits and veggies in with food?”, and “What else is in this product?”.
Save your money IMO- eat at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day (I suggest to my clients at least 2 cups of veggies and 1 cup of fruit) but the MORE the BETTER 😘 If you THEN want to add a greens product to your diet- do it! You don’t need one though💁🏻♀️
